Weird and Well 〰️
At Weird and Well Counseling in Conway, AR, therapy isn’t about being “fixed.” It’s about being understood.
Our work is grounded in the belief that your experiences, coping strategies, and identity all make sense in context, not as problems to be pathologized. We explore the connections between nervous systems, trauma, identity, relationships, and the broader systems and culture that shape your life.
We especially love supporting queer, neurodivergent, trauma-affected, and “high-functioning but exhausted” individuals who have spent years masking or trying to fit into spaces that weren’t built for them. Using a blend of trauma therapy, somatic work, parts work, and neuroscience-informed approaches, we’ve created a space that feels human, affirming, and a little unconventional, because healing doesn’t have to feel cold or clinical.
At its core, “Weird and Well” means you don’t have to become less of yourself to build a life that feels good.
Our Team
Julianne Smith, LPC
Founder & TherapistI’m Julianne Smith, founder and therapist at Weird and Well Counseling. For a long time, I felt like I didn’t quite fit anywhere. I tried to shrink, stretch, and reshape myself to fit into boxes that were never made for me. Eventually, I realized the problem wasn’t me. So, I stopped trying to force it.
That experience deeply shapes how I show up as a therapist. I’m passionate about neuroscience and the ways our nervous systems, identities, relationships, and culture all intersect, especially when it comes to trauma and the stories we carry about ourselves. I don’t believe therapy should be about “fixing” you. I believe it should be about understanding yourself in context, making sense of your patterns, and building a life that actually fits who you are.
I’m especially drawn to working with people who feel like they don’t belong, who’ve spent years thinking something must be wrong with them. Together, we work toward something different; not changing who you are, but helping you embrace your “weird,” understand your brain, and find ways to thrive on your own terms.
I’m also autistic and ADHD, and I’m open about that in my work. A lot of my clients seek me out because they want a therapist who gets it; not just clinically, but through lived experience. That shared understanding can make space for a kind of honesty and depth that feels hard to find elsewhere.
Weird and Well exists because you don’t need to become someone else to be okay. You just need the right space to understand yourself.
Libby Newton, LPC
TherapistI’m Libby Newton, LPC.
I’ve always been the “weird quiet kid.” Growing up, I often felt invisible, talked over, or misunderstood, and those experiences are a big part of why I became a therapist. I wanted to create a space where people can feel truly listened to and understood without having to fight for it.
I’m especially passionate about working with trauma and neurodivergence, particularly with late-diagnosed autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD AFAB individuals who spent years masking and wondering why life felt harder than it seemed for everyone else. I relate to a lot of those experiences personally, from sensory overwhelm and misophonia to feeling like you’re constantly trying to fit into spaces that weren’t built for you.
I also love EMDR therapy. I actually went into EMDR training as a skeptic, but I was surprised by how powerful and transformative the process could be. Now, helping clients process trauma and better understand themselves is one of my favorite parts of this work.
I believe therapy should be a place where you can stop trying to “fix” yourself and start learning how to thrive as the person you already are.
